From a surrendered puppy to a cherished family member - Cassie K.

Lulu’s story perfectly captures the spirit of the Subaru Loves Pets® Program. Lulu was surrendered to One Step Closer Animal Rescue, Inc. when her previous owners realized that raising a young puppy was more work than they expected. Despite her uncertain start, Lulu’s sweet, playful personality quickly shone through. Her foster family dedicated time and love to help her grow into a confident, well-mannered dog, working on house training and basic commands while giving her the security she needed to thrive. When Lulu attended our Subaru World of Newton Mega Adoption Event, her bright eyes and happy energy caught everyone’s attention. Thanks to the visibility and support of the Subaru partnership and ASPCA grant, Lulu was able to meet the perfect family who instantly fell in love with her. Her adopters shared: "It’s been a week since we brought Lulu home and we absolutely adore her. She’s utterly amazing. Together, we’ve found a natural routine from early morning walks to evening snuggles. Lulu is smart, loving, and brings so much joy to our lives. We’re forever grateful to the OSCAR volunteers for building up her confidence and helping her become the incredible dog she is today." From a surrendered puppy unsure of her place in the world to a cherished family member, Lulu’s journey is a true “happy tail” made possible by compassionate teamwork between O.S.C.A.R., Subaru World of Newton, and the ASPCA.

Subaru World of Newton Teams Up to Support Local Community - Karen D.

Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Newton, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Subaru World of Newton is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like Subaru World of Newton have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. On 02/11/2025, Subaru World of Newton donated 120 coats to Center for Family Services - Newton, NJ. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.

Providing Hope and Support - Michele W.

The Center for Prevention and Counseling's enduring partnership with Subaru World of Newton has grown significantly, generating great support, through their Share the Love campaign. This remarkable support has enabled us to address critical needs that often fall outside traditional grant funding parameters, making a tangible difference in our clients' recovery journeys. Share the Love funding helps us respond to urgent client needs that might otherwise go unmet. When individuals face housing instability, we can provide temporary shelter assistance. We have also been able to provide mattresses to those leaving shelter and entering their own apartments. The flexibility of these funds allows us to offer emergency support for basic necessities, helping to stabilize clients during critical periods in their recovery journey. Thanks to Subaru World of Newton and their customers' generosity, we have expanded our ability to fill these vital service gaps. Whether it is securing temporary shelter, or addressing immediate basic needs, these contributions create a stronger foundation for sustained recovery. The impact of Subaru's Share the Love campaign extends far beyond the initial donation – it provides hope and practical support at moments when our clients need it most.

CANCER CENTER LOVE - Nichelle U.

We are a community cancer center in Sussex County, New Jersey. We service our local community. Much of the area is rural and far out. There anre many small family farms. Some of our patients really struggle to make ends meet and adding chemotherapy treatment can really stretch the families. Having Subaru come in with the plush blankets is really a treat. Our patients look forward to the Subaru Cares blanket donation every year. It always makes the patient smile and gives them comfort during treatments. It means a lot to have the community support or center and our patients. THANK YOU SUBARU OF NEWTON!!

Long-Timer Tillie Finds Her Fur-Ever Home! - Cassie K.

Tillie was dropped off at a veterinarian's office with her littermates. All her litter mates were adopted, and Tillie continued to sit in the shelter and hope for her fur-ever home. She spent 7 months hoping to be picked, and it finally happened! We are always over joyed watching our long timers who start to lose hope get adopted. Tillie no longer calls the shelter home. She now lives a spoiled life without a care in the world. Thanks Subaru World of Newton for hosting our adoption event and promoting our shelter dogs for adoption!!

Draven's finally home after 5 months in Shelter! - Cassie K.

Draven and his 3 pups and his baby momma were all seized by animal control and taken out of a neglectful situation. Despite his past, Draven is a very sweet and friendly dog. Draven entered our shelter in May 2024 and went 5 months with no interest. He kept hoping his time would be next. He was featured at our Subaru Loves Pet Adoption Event at Subaru World of Newton in October 2024 and adopted days later. He now has a warm bed, great care, full belly, and knows what its like to be loved. Thanks Subaru World of Newton!

Prevention Works! - Michele W.

The Center for Prevention and Counseling extends heartfelt gratitude to Subaru for their generous support in promoting hope, health, and recovery within our community. With Subaru's backing, our Prevention Team successfully delivered age-appropriate, evidence-based curriculum to youth spanning elementary through high school. These programs extend beyond merely educating our youth about the risks of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs; they serve as a foundation for instilling crucial life skills. Recognizing that individuals often turn to substances as coping mechanisms for stress, pain, and grief, we are dedicated to equipping the youth with a diverse toolbox of healthy alternatives. The curriculum covers essential aspects such as drug resistance skills, personal self-management, and general social skills. Additionally, it imparts healthy decision-making abilities, stress coping techniques, and refusal skills to empower youth against peer pressure. As a result of these programs, our youth not only gain awareness of community resources but also identify safe role models they can turn to for assistance. Subaru's support has undeniably played a pivotal role in the success of these initiatives, proving effective in reducing substance use initiation and delaying the onset of such behaviors. Thank you, Subaru, for your commitment to the well-being and resilience of the next generation. Your support is instrumental in fostering positive and healthy choices that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on our community.

Subaru to the rescue - Debbie P.

On a recent Saturday I walked in Subaru World of Newton and was totally lost. I needed help to get to a wedding and had lost my directions. Without hesitation the girl who was working knew exactly where I needed to go, grabbed her car keys and had me follow her to the destination. Kindness such as this is rarely seen anymore. THANK YOU SUBARU!!!

Market Street Mission - Jacob J.

Thank you for the generosity in providing so many socks to the homeless men in sussex county. It's often overlooked being we are an all mens shelter and love and need to help from our community. They provide men with dinner, breakfast, a place to shower along with clean clothes and laundry. Thrift store vouchers and chapel activities are included as well when you come and stay at the shelter. Thank you again for being a partner with us.

Subaru Loves Pets Indeed!! - Maggie C.

I've been coming to Subaru for Years & a big draw was that they are a dog friendly dealership! I've fostered in the past & now rescued a very nervous little girl. I've really been trying to socialize her, but its hard finding the right balance... Until now. Everyone at Subaru World of Newton loves dogs & they were so respectful when it came to SadieMay being nervous and unsure. By the end of our trip there, she knew just who had the treats & even left with her very own Subaru plush toy! I know that the next time that I come in, we will both be greated with happy faces & big hearts. Thank you Subaru World of Newton for taking the time to ask about SadieMay and be a great first step in my journey with her <3

Long Timer Dog Tripp Finds His Forever Home! - Cassie K.

Tripp was rescued by our animal shelter in 2021 from a hoarding situation. Tripp along with the other dogs rescued from the hoarding situation were all shy and lacked training/attention. All the other dogs that were rescued with Tripp were adopted out successful. Tripp watched his friends leave the shelter while he sat patiently waiting for his turn. In October 2023, he finally had his day! Tripp was adopted to a family with another dog, and he couldn't be happier. He bonded with the other dog instantly as he was always used to being with other animals. He is also enjoying "the good life" and loves lounging out on the sofa. Subaru World of Newton promoted Tripp by listing him on their social media and helping get the word out about our long timers. Tripp’s new adopter saw him and couldn't resist giving him a second chance. He has been in his home for 2 weeks and thriving! Thank you Subaru World of Newton!!

Regional Cancer Care of Sparta was selected by Subaru of Newton to to receive these wonderful blankets in connection with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS). Dr May Abdo-Matkiwsky and Dr. Jumana Chatiwala were very surprised and thankful to be recognized for this gift for their patients. Our patients have been very happy to except these generous gifts. It is wonderful to receive this gift as we service a large number of cancer patients in our community. This gift makes patients feel appreciated during this difficult time. Thank you again, Subaru of Newton.

Deformed dog Rocket finds his forever home! - Cassie K.

Through our partnership with Subaru World of Newton, we hosted a mega adoption event in October. We brought 40 dogs to Subaru World of Newton in Newton, NJ, and by the end of the event, One Step Closer Animal Rescue (O.S.C.A.R.) and Subaru World of Newton helped 38 dogs find their perfect, loving home. Thanks to Brooke Canty from Subaru World of Newton, we were able to hold this mega adoption event. We wanted to share Rocket's adoption story! Rocket ended up homeless after his owner passed away. His world was truly turned upside down. He went from a loving home, into an animal shelter and was very confused. Rocket is a very sweet and loving dog. Even though he weighs 45 pounds, he thinks he was a lap dog. Rocket struggled to find a home because of his appearance. He has feet that face outward instead of straight, also referred to as bow legged. His deformity didn't stop him from charming a potential adopter at the Subaru mega adoption event and landed him into his forever home. Way to go Rocket!

Center for Prevention & Counseling - Becky C.

People affected by substance use disorder often have many obstacles along their road to recovery. One fundamental problem is not having the funds for needed treatment. A recent example is a young mom with dependents in her care who required treatment for her addiction. She had recently lost her job, and while she had insurance coverage during this period, it didn't cover her needed care, and her insurance status disqualified her from state or county funding streams. Fortunately, through our Subaru Share the Love Event donation, the Center for Prevention & Counseling was able to help this young mom offer her counseling services to assist her on her road to recovery!

This is an amazing program that helps support homeless families in Sussex County, NJ! For the past two years, we have been receiving blankets that we give out to our families! Thank you for helping us to help our community and our homeless families.

Matilda - An Underdog Story - Cassie K.

Matilda was rescued with her puppies back in January 2018. Her puppies were all adopted and Matilda sat patiently waiting to be adopted. She was at the shelter for almost 4 years and become a favorite of the volunteers. Matilda was a pit mix which made her a less desirable adoption. Matilda was finally adopted 10/31/21, after spending most of her life in a shelter. She is now 5 years old and gets to spend the rest of her life in a loving home. Matilda is learning what life outside of the shelter is like and enjoys all the small things. We cannot thank Subaru World of Newton enough for sponsoring dogs like Matilda and helping so many deserving dogs find homes. Matilda's adoption story is just a small glace into the journey the shelter animals take before being adopted into loving homes. THANK YOU SUBARU!!!!

SCARC & Subaru Making A Difference In Sussex Co. - Chris H.

In April of 2021 Subaru World of Newton donated over nine thousand five hundred dollars to the SCARC Foundation from their “Subaru Loves” event held November through January. It was the first time that SCARC Foundation was chosen to participate in Subaru World and Subaru Corporate’s Share the Love Event! Through the generosity of this gift, The SCARC Family of services is able to provide recreation programs including summer camp experiences, basketball, swimming, bowling, & dances; respite care which provides a much needed break for families who have a child with a disability; and guardianship services which helps guide families through the complicated process of becoming the legal guardian for their disabled family member. This year, the SCARC Family of Services will provide programs and services to over 650 people with developmental disabilities and their families. We sincerely thank you and, most especially, our clients and families thank you.

Candy Wrapper Recycling Partnership - Douglass C.

As Halloween approached this year, the members of our student environmental club, the Sparta Middle School Green Team, got talking about how we could encourage people in our town to make their holiday more planet-friendly. Doing some quick research, we discovered that a New Jersey-based company called Terracycle recycles candy wrappers and turns them into park benches, tables and playground equipment. We also learned that it had partnered with Subaru World of Newton, which collects and ships out the used wrappers. I gave the dealership a call and was soon chatting away with general manager Chris Dexter, who I discovered has many of the same concerns about consumer waste that our club members do. When I asked Chris how many wrappers his office could handle, he said "We'll take whatever you can collect." With that we were off and running. Over several days in early November, students and staff dropped off bags of wrappers as they entered school. My co-advisor, Cara Johnson, brought our haul over to the dealership and, with Chris' encouragement, we've decided to continue collecting wrappers throughout the year. One immediate positive result has been education: students and families have learned that not all of what's considered "trash" needs to end up in a landfill. With the continuing partnership between Sparta Middle School and Subaru World, we look forward to more people discovering that truth. https://www.tapinto.net/towns/sparta/articles/sparta-middle-school-wants-your-candy-wrappers http://www.spartaindependent.com/news/local-news/park-benches-from-candy-wrappers-LD1401519
